Whiskey in the Jar

As I was a goin' over the Cork and Kerry mountains
I met with captain Farrell and his money he was counting
I first produced my pistol and then produced my rapier
Say "Stand and deliver" or the devil he may take you.

Chorus :
Mushin ready for a doo dam-a da
Wack fall the daddy-o, wack fall the daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar

I counted out his money and it was a pretty penny
I counted out his money and I took it home to Jenny
She sighed and she swore that never she would leave me
But the devil take the women cos they never can be easy

Well I went upstairs for to take a slumber
I dreamt of gold and jewels and sure it was no wonder

While Jenny drew me charger and she filled it up with water
Then sent for captain Farrell to be ready for the slaughter

Well early in the morning, just before I rose to travel
Up came a band of footmen and with them captain Farrell
I reached out for me pistol, Jenny took me rapier
I couldn't fire the water, so a prisoner I was taken

Well some take delight when the carriages are rolling
And others take delight in the hurling and the bowling
But I take delight in the juice of the barley
And courting pretty fairmaids in the morning bright and early

(Chorus) (Chorus)
